Karachi: Nokia appeared stronger than ever at this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2012 held in Barcelona, Spain. Looks like Nokia’s new strategy has set the company in right direction and will be doing a lot of good for the brand this year. With a new spectacular range of devices, services and gears to show off, Nokia proved that it has still got what it takes to mesmerize the audience and make the world fall in love with the brand all over again.
Nokia introduced a range of new products, services and partnerships at MWC 2012, setting the pace for 2012 and demonstrating rapid execution of its new strategic direction. The new strategy already has resulted in the adoption of Windows Phone as Nokia’s primary Smartphone platform, major changes to its feature phones, and additional emphasis on location-based services with the launch of its Location and Commerce business.
“One year ago, we shared that Nokia was embarking on a new journey to build great mobile devices,” said Stephen Elop, president and CEO of Nokia. “Today, with our fourth Lumia device, smarter mobile phones and an array of new services, we are demonstrating that we can change the clock speed of Nokia.”
And that’s not all; Nokia also bagged 4 prestigious awards at the largest mobile technology show of the year. The Nokia C3-00 won Best Feature Phone or Entry Level Phone at the GSMA Awards 2012 and the Nokia Lumia 610 won Tom’s Hardware Best in show and Best Budget Smartphone from Laptop. A jaw-dropping breakthrough in mobile technology, Nokia 808 PureView won the award for “Best New Mobile Handset, Device or Tablet at MWC 2012.
Commenting on Nokia picking up the award for Nokia 808 PureView, Arif Shafique , GM, Nokia Pakistan and Afghanistan said: “It’s a fantastic award because it signifies that consumer experience counts. It’s about tech, but it’s about how tech is used to make a consumer have a fantastic experience. The imaging is fantastic; the audio is fantastic; the navigation technology is fantastic. These are first signals that we are executing against our strategy. That we’re back. That we’re bringing great products to our consumers – and that this is just the beginning. There’s lot more to come.”
