Moroccan Envoy call on Speaker National Assembly

Islamabad: Speaker National Assembly Dr. Fehmida Mirza has said that Pakistan attaches immense value to its relations with Morocco since both the countries shared common faith, culture and understanding on all major international issues. She said that regular interaction between political leadership, people and parliaments of both the brotherly countries would further augment the existing ties. Dr. Fehmida Mirza was talking to Mr. Mohammed Reda El Fassi, Ambassador of Morocco who called on her in Parliament House, this afternoon.

Dr. Fehmida Mirza said that the recent years have witnessed smooth development of bilateral relationship, increasingly strengthened constructive cooperation, active exchanges of people and culture and positive consultation and coordination in international affairs between Pakistan and Morocco. She expressed the desire to further cement the ties through parliamentary cooperation. She said that Pakistan-Morocco friendship group has been activated in National Assembly of Pakistan and the regular interaction between parliamentarians of both the countries would provide them opportunities to learn from each other’s experiences.

Madam Speaker said that immense economic potential exists in both countries which should be exploited for mutual benefit. Madam Speaker said that government of Pakistan has carried out major restructuring of economic sector and introduced pro-investment polices from which Moroccan investors can take advantage. She asked for Moroccan support in energy and power sectors.

Mr. Mohammed Reda El Fassi, Ambassador of Morocco agreed with Madam Speaker and said that his government also attaches great importance to its brotherly relations with Pakistan and wants to further strengthen and diversify them through economic and parliamentary ties. He said that Parliaments of both the countries could play important roles in further consolidating existing bilateral ties.

The Ambassador also informed Madam Speaker about the His Majesty’s initiative of carrying out constitutional reforms that included increased rights for women and children, and universal access to a free education. The Ambassador also presented an invitation letter to Madam Speaker on behalf of Speaker National Assembly of Morocco to visit Morocco.

Madam Speaker accepted the invitation and said that she would visit Morocco for which schedule will be finalized with mutual consultation.
