Islamabad, November 21, 2012 (PPI-OT): A meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Capital Administration and Development was held on 21-11-2012, under the Chairmanship of Mr. Jamshaid Ahmad Dasti, MNA. It was attended by MNAs Dr. Mahreen Razzaq Bhutto, Choudhary Asghar Ali Jatt, Syed Hamid Saeed Kazmi, Ms Shaheen Shafiq, Ms. Seema Mohiuddin Jameeli, Sheikh Muhammad Tariq Rasheed, Dr. Araish Kumar, Ms. Sabeen Rizvi, Ms. Bushra Rehman and other officers from the Ministry, Capital Administration and Development, CDA. The agenda of the meeting was as under:-
i. To discuss the “Capital University of Science and Technology Act, 2012”.
ii. Briefing on under construction National Bank Building at Islamabad by the President of National Bank of Pakistan.
iii. Briefing on Development Projects of Capital Development Authority by the Chairman CDA.
iv. Report on the dispute between young doctors association and senior doctors in PIMS Hospital, Islamabad.
v. Briefing on Islamabad Club.
vi. Briefing on Special Education and Social Welfare Institutions.
2. The Standing Committee deferred the agenda items-I and v.
3. The Committee censured the Senior Executive Vice President, National Bank of Pakistan for giving incomplete briefing and opined the certain irregularities have been found in the under construction building of National Bank in Islamabad and directed the President National Bank to appear in person before the Committee for a comprehensive briefing on this issue.
4. The Chairman CDA briefed the Committee on major projects being executed by CDA. He told that when he assumed the charge, CDA was under tremendous financial constraint and even the salaries were not being paid and also the pace of development projects was extremely slow.
The corrective measures which have been taken by him are yielding results which consists of, that vehicles given to unauthorized persons have been taken back, all kind of nepotism and favouritism is being discouraged, all encroached lands and plots are being taken back from the land grabbing mafia, policy is being devised for the allotment of Khokhas, notices are being issued to the owners of the Farm Houses for strictly adhering to the CDA Bylaws and Rules.
He further said that the major projects such as Kashmir Highway, Khayaban-e-Margala, construction of Additional Family Suits for the Parliamentarians, development of Sector D-12, I-11 and Park Enclave as well as development of Hazrat Bari Imam (R.A) are hotly pursued.
5. The Chairman and the members of the Committee opined that to provide environment and services for disabled children and persons and also to vulnerable groups, is a noble cause and immediate steps are recommended for providing better services and that quota for disabled children be strictly observed. Steps be taken to give them higher education. Old homes be made for senior citizens.
