Islamabad: A meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Communications was held today under the Chairmanship of Mr. Saeed Ahmed Zafar in the Parliament House, Islamabad.
The Committee has shown its displeasure over the absence of Secretary C and W and Chairman P and D Government of Punjab from the meeting as the Committee had to discuss important issues pertaining to public good. The Committee has also directed the Chief Secretary Punjab to direct the concerned quarters to provide the relevant information regarding to construction Syed Wala Bridge to the Committee so that it could discuss and give its input.
The Committee has also unanimously strongly recommended for completing the construction work of Kot Abdul Malik interchange so as to save the national exchequer from further loss. The Committee was of the view that a huge amount of money has already been spent on the project but it has not yet been completed.
The Committee directed the DIG Motorway Police to enhance the patrolling of the Motorway Police on Bhai Pharu-Wan Radha Ram Section to avoid the incidents of theft and Kidnapping. The DIG was also directed for more emphasis on vigilant patrolling on Motorways and Highways in the Country.
The meeting was attended by MNAs Mr. Mahboob Ullah Jan, Capt. (Retd.) Rai Ghulam Mujtaba Kharal, Mr. Sajjad-ul-Hassan, Abdul Majeed Khan Khanan Khail, Dr. Araish Kumar, Dr. Darshan, Mr. Murtaza Javed Abbasi, MNAs and Senior Officers of the Ministry of Communications and National Highway Authority.
