Islamabad, March 07, 2016 (PPI-OT):The Standing Committee on Defence Production met in the Parliament House today, the 07th March, 2016, in Committee Room No. 7, at 11:00 a.m., under the Chairmanship of Khawaja Sohail Mansoor, MNA, regarding briefing on the products made by NRTC, Haripur (KPK).
The Committee Members were briefed by Managing Director, National Radio Telecommunication Corporation (NRTC) about the vision, capabilities, products and achievements of said institution. He informed the Committee that NRTC was established under Companies Act, in 1965, initially this company had manufactured two products, which have now been increased upto 65 items.
He said that designing, developing and manufacturing of telecommunication equipments were basic mission of this institution. He added that NRTC was functioning on self-reliance basis under the independent board. He further informed the Committee that NRTC has installed jammer system in prisons of Punjab, Sindh and KPK.
The Committee appreciated the achievements of NRTC, under the supervision of Rana Tanvir Hussain, Federal Minister for Ministry of Defence Production with regard to its export and research and development activities. The Honourable Minister informed the Committee that all enforcement agencies were using NRTC equipments in the country. The Committee was apprised by the Secretary, MoDP that joint interaction sessions were arranged with Ministry of Science and Technology and NRTC, on the directions of the Honourable Minister for fruitful coordination and results in Information Technology sector.
The Honourable Minister also informed the Committee that NRTC has launched internship program for the students. The Committee recommended that awareness sessions of NRTC and other MoDP’s attached departments should be arranged with Chambers of Commerce for public private partnership.
The Committee recommended that Home Secretary and IGP Sindh would be invited in the next meeting of the Committee for discussion on the smooth coordination between NRTC and Sindh Government. The Committee recommended that its next meeting/visit would be convened at NRTC, Haripur (KPK).
Honourable Minister informed the Committee that MoDP was working for making superior Rifle (Gun) for Pakistan Army. Meeting was attended by Mr. Rajab Ali Khan Baloch, Mr. Muhammad Khan Daha, Dr. Ramesh Kumar Vankwani, Mr. Muhammad Moeen Wattoo, Ms. Amra Khan, Ms. Iffat Liaqat, Mr. Shahjahan Baloch, Ms. Ayesha Gulalai, Ms. Asyia Nasir, MNAs and besides the senior officers of the MoDP and NRTC.
