Islamabad: National Assembly Standing Committee on House and Library met under the Chairmanship of Deputy Speaker, Faisal Karim Kundi in Parliament House today to discuss present status of National Assembly Employees Cooperative Housing Society (NAECHS).
The Committee was informed that the officials who found involved in the embezzlement in the report of Special Committee has filed a petition in Islamabad High Court and have got stay order from the court. It is further informed that the National Assembly has acquired the services of a counsel an application will be submitted in the court for vacation of stay order. The Committee directed National Assembly Secretariat to actively pursue the case in the court and implement the recommendations of the Special Committee so that appropriate action could be taken against the elements involved in the misappropriation of the accounts of National Assembly Employees Cooperative Housing Society (NAECHS).
The Committee also discussed joint venture with an adjacent society for the provision of plots to the members of National Assembly Employees Cooperative Housing Society (NAECHS). The Deputy Commissioner, Islamabad apprised the Committee about the terms and condition of the joint venture. The Committee asked the Deputy Commissioner, Islamabad to appoint an administrator for signing of the agreement and to make arrangements for the election of NAECHS at the earliest.
The Committee also recommended to insert an arbitration clause in the agreement. The Committee directed Islamabad Administration to keep in view the interest of employees of the National Assembly while finalizing the negotiations with the adjacent society for joint venture. It was also decided that National Assembly House and Library Committee will supervise the affairs of NAECHS and a Sub-Committee will also be constituted in this regard later on.
The MNAs who attended the meeting were Mrs. Belum Hasnain, Mr. Liaqat Ali Khan, Saira Afzal Tarar, Mr. Anjum Aqeel Khan, Mrs. Shagufta Sadiq and Sheikh Waqas Akram, Minister of State.
