Islamabad: Chairman NAVTEC Muhammad Mumtaz Akhtar Khaloon has thanked all members of the National Assembly including opposition for passing NAVTEC Bill 2008 with consensus. He said that he was especially grateful to Syed Khursheed Ahmad Shah, Syed Naveed Qamar, Makhdoom Shahabuddin, Nadeem Afzal Chan and Tasneem Ahmed Qureshi who realized the importance of this bill and played their key role in getting it passed from the NA. He specially congratulated President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani after passing the NAVTEC Bill from the National Assembly. He said that with the existence of NAVTEC at Federal level, the PPP govt will succeed in imparting Vocational and Technical Education and Training equally and without any discrimination to jobless youths of most backward areas of all provinces, AJK and FATA. He said that skilled manpower mean prosperous Pakistan.

It is pertinent to mention here that NAVTEC was established in 2005 through an ordinance. I took charge on 20th December 2010 as its Chairman and thus I succeeded in getting passed NAVTEC Bill from the NA in just less than five months period with my continuous un-tiring efforts from dusk to dawn.

The Chairman said that perhaps all governments of the past totally failed in realizing the performance of NAVTEC and its important role in economic development of the country. That is why they could not highlight the role of this very important organization. He has said that NAVTEC which provides Vocational and Technical Education and Training to jobless youths throughout the country will not only play a key role in getting accredited the curricula and skill standards of Provincial Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority) at international level but will also get affiliated all its enrolled institutes with overseas TVETs (Technical and Vocational Education Training). Therefore Certificates issued by the NAVTEC’s enrolled vocational institutes to their successful trainees will be acceptable in foreign countries and our skilled manpower will not only get job easily in Pakistan but will also get job very easily in European, Afro-American, Asian and Arabian Countries.

It may be mentioned here that NAVTEC is not only conducting courses of different trades free of cost for jobless and unskilled youths of most backward areas of Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtuns Khawa, Gilgit Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and FATA on priority basis but also pays Rs.2,000/- monthly stipend to each trainee. Moreover free tools kits are also provided to trainees on completion of their courses in few selected trades besides giving them certificates. Therefore availability of skilled manpower is pre-requisite for bringing a revolution of economic development in the country. And there is pressing demand of skilled manpower by the present emerging economies of the world, Muhammad Mumtaz Akhtar Kahloon added.
