Islamabad: National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC)’s 9th Board of Members (BoM) meeting held here today. Chairman NAVTTC Muhammad Mumtaz Akhtar Kahloon presided over the meeting.
The Board Members have approved 17 projects of Rs. 342.128 million for imparting technical and vocational training in different trades to jobless youth throughout the country under the “Prime Minister Hunarmand Pakistan Program”. Most of the Schemes include in above projects, which have been requested by the people to Prime Minister during his on and off Public Meetings in the country. So all these approved projects are based on pressing demand of the people to Prime Minister of Pakistan.
Board has approved establishment of NAVTTC Regional Office at Gilgit Baltistan, like all other four provinces, to impart maximum technical and vocational training to marginalized section of that area. Moreover, the Board has also approved establishment of a new Vocational Training Center at Dinga Tehsil Kharian in Gujrat District.
Prior to this meeting, total 8 meetings of NAVTTC Board of Members have so far been held. In which total 145 decisions were taken in 8 meetings. Out of which 116 decisions have been implemented, 2 are under implementation while 27 projects still awaiting funds.
Earlier Chairman NAVTTC Muhammad Mumtaz Akhtar Kahloon, while welcoming the Board Members, in his opening remarks, highlighted achievements of NAVTTC. He told that NAVTTC, as a step towards better management and efficient system implementation, has acquired ISO 9001: 2008 Certification.
NAVTTC has so far revised/updated the existing curricula of 41 different Vocational Trades and Technologies in just about 7 months time. Muhammad Mumtaz Akhtar Kahloon further told that Situation Analysis has been undertaken for setting up of Labour Market Information System (LMIS).
First National Database of the Technical and Vocational, Education and Training (TVET) institutions has been developed. More than 130,000 jobless youth has been given Technical and Vocational training so far only through NAVTTC under ‘President’s Funni Maharat Program” and the “Prime Minister’s Hunarmand Pakistan Program”, he added.
Executive Director NAVTTC Tariq Shafi Chak, who is Secretary of the Board, initiated the formal proceedings of the Board meeting after Chairman’s opening speech. He briefed, in detail, each and every agenda item of meeting to Board Members.
