Nepali Sherpas seek new route up ‘Turquoise Goddess’ Himalayan peak

Mount Cho Oyu, an 8,000-metre peak in the Himalayas, is considered one of the most manageable mountains of its size. More than 4,000 people have reached its 8,188-metre peak, according to the Himalayan Database, making it the second-most popular mountain after Mount Everest. Two groups of Nepali Sherpas are now trying to find a second route up Cho Oyu, meaning “Turquoise Goddess,” to expand its appeal to tourists from abroad.
