Karachi: The Sindh Government has not issued any advisory regarding extraordinary threats to the diplomats. This was stated by Sindh Governor, Dr. Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan, here on Friday.
He was talking to foreign diplomats based in Karachi at the Governor House. Dr. Ebad further stated that there were no extra-ordinary threats to the diplomats in the province. He, however, said that in the wake of recent killing of a Saudi diplomat in Karachi, the usual security of the diplomats has been beefed up.
The Governor said that some arrests have been made in connection with the killing of the Saudi diplomat and that investigation is in progress keeping in view different angles.
He was of the view that the information thus obtained would be shared with the diplomats.
Dr. Ebad said that it was being considered to have a diplomatic enclave on the pattern of one in Islamabad, for ensuring comprehensive security of the diplomats.
He also asked the diplomats that if they have any apprehensions regarding security they should immediately inform the law enforcement agencies’ official responsible for security.
“Diplomats are our guests and their protection is our priority”, he remarked adding that they were not only envoys but they also bring investment and play a role in portraying our image abroad.
The Governor had also held a meeting with the diplomats of Islamic countries based in Karachi at the Governor House on Thursday.
