Karachi: Sharmila Faruqui advisor to Chief Minister Sindh on Media has demanded federal and provincial governments to put immediate ban on open sale and purchase of acid because open and illegal sale and purchase of acid has caused terrible results. This she said while talking to a delegation of women here in her office on Wednesday.
She said that federal and provincial governments should formulate such laws and regulations to discourage open sale and purchase of acid, because criminal elements used it for their ulterior motives and usually threw on women and made them disfigured. She added, ‘Throwing acid on women brings a bad name on the civilized face of Pakistan and everyone should discourage and create awareness against this evil practice. Shurmla Faruqui said that a proper record should be maintained in this regard and acid should be sold on authentic prescription and without authentic prescription no acid must be sold.
She said, ‘People generally respect women in our society but there are certain evil creatures who defame society for the evil designs and they must be countered through systematic and scientific way. She said that writ of law must be implemented.
