Islamabad: Overseas Pakistanis have a significant contribution in the progress and development of Pakistan. Their patriotism like their brethren back home is exemplary and their ever increasing remittances help strengthen the national economy. Says a press release received here today from JAKARTA.
Ambassador of Pakistan to Indonesia, Sanaullah said in his address at the 23rd March flag hoisting ceremony held in the Embassy of Pakistan, Jakarta.
The Ambassador said despite problems and difficulties, largely created due to the war on terror and external factors, the Pakistani nation had exhibited tremendous resilience. Economy was still growing and investment coming in.
This is no mean achievement when seen in the backdrop of security issues. He said the President and the Prime Minister in their messages had rightly emphasized the element of national unity which was the key to success in all spheres.
While talking to media, the Ambassador expressed hopes that facilitated by the recently signed preferential trade agreement, Pakistan Indonesia trade would surge to over two billion dollars as compared to the 1.2 billion volumes achieved in 2011. He said Pakistan-Indonesia relations were at the all time best but needed an economic boost which would be provided by expansion in trade linkages.
Earlier a large gathering of resident Pakistanis, Pakistan origin Indonesians, Embassy officials and their families joined in the chorus as national anthem was played and Ambassador Sanaullah hoisted the flag to mark the National Day. Officers of the armed forces presented the salute.
