Islamabad: Pakistan High Commission in Malaysia organized a grand reception-cum-cultural night at a local hotel here in Kuala Lumpur yesterday to mark the 72nd Anniversary of Pakistan Day. says a press release received here today from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovations Datuk Fadillah Yusof and Deputy Foreign Minister Senator A. Kohilan Pillay were the guests of honour at the reception which drew a large crowd of high level Malaysian dignitaries, diplomatic Community, top businessmen, representative of Pakistani Community and media elites.
The ceremony commenced with the playing of national anthems of both Pakistan and Malaysia. Later, the Malaysia Deputy Minister prayed for the progress, prosperity and economic wellbeing of Pakistan.
The High Commissioner for Pakistan in Malaysia, Mr. Masood Khalid reciprocated by praying for the health and wellbeing of the King of Malaysia and prosperity and progress of the people of Malaysia. Later, a huge cake was cut to mark the 72nd National Day of Pakistan.
The highlight of the evening was a spectacular display of traditional and modern Pakistani dresses by a group of local models who in a series of walks showcased the delicacy and finesse associated with the traditional embroidery and needlework carried on Pakistani dresses worn on important family and social gatherings.
The audience also watched with great interest a documentary on the natural beauty and tourism potential of northern areas in Pakistan. A separate documentary highlighted the progress made by Pakistan in various spheres of life and the major steps taken by the government in recent years for the socio-economic uplift of the people of Pakistan.
Later, a group of Pakistan artists and singers, including well-known Pakistani singer Gul Muhammad who has released more than a dozen song videos on various Malaysian TV channels, presented a repertoire of cultural performances including instrumental music, folk songs and folk dances representing the four provinces of Pakistan.
An exhibition of Pakistan textile products, carpets and handicraft was also organized on the occasion. The audience evinced keen interest in the Pakistani products. The evening ended on a sumptuous dinner offering a wide spread of rich and exotic Pakistani food delicacies including biryani, roast lamb and Kebabs.
