Islamabad, November 19, 2014 (PPI-OT): President Mamnoon Hussain offered to provide skilled manpower to Sudan for its banking, medical, textile and agriculture sectors as well as for the development of infrastructure after the Special Envoy to the President of Sudan and Minister of Investment Dr. Mustafa Osman Ismail called on the President today at Aiwan-e-Sadr. The President said that Pakistan is keen to enhance the existing relations with Sudan in all domains particularly in trade, economic and defence matters.
President Mamnoon Husain said that both countries should continue exploring mutual avenues for future cooperation for further increasing the volume of trade between the two countries noting that the existing bilateral trade of US $ 46.47 million is far below the potential. The President expressed hope that the proposed 3rd round of Pak-Sudan Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC) would be held early next year which would further enhance bilateral economic cooperation.
The President noted with appreciation that the both countries have extended support to each other at various regional and international forums and expressed commitment for furthering bilateral collaboration in diverse fields to the mutual benefits of the people of both countries.
Talking to the Special Envoy, the President recalled the support extended by Pakistan to Sudan on the issue of Darfur at different international forums. The President stated that Pakistan also supports lifting of UN sanctions on Sudan. The President also appraised the special envoy about Kashmir issue and urged the Government of Sudan to support Pakistan on this issue. The President conveyed his good wishes to the Special Envoy on the President Omar al-Bashir and the people of Sudan.
The President expressed confidence that the initiative taken by the President of Sudan for holding dialogues with all political parties would pave the way for strengthening of democracy and in the development of Sudan. The President also appreciated the initiative of President Omar al-Bashir toward South Sudan for resolving all disputed issues through peaceful negotiations.
President Mamnoon Hussain conveyed his thanks to the President of Sudan for extending invitation to visit Sudan and expressed desire to visit Sudan at the earliest convenience. Special Envoy to the President of Sudan Dr. Mustafa Osman Ismail thanked the President for meeting and expressed confidence that bilateral collaboration between the two countries would continue flourishing in the future.
