Karachi, November 07, 2014 (PPI-OT): Pakistan Tanners Association (PTA) has demanded the significant cut in electricity tariff due by virtue of falling prices of furnace oil. The Chairman PTA (S.Z) Hamid A. Zahur has strongly demanded the government to extend benefit of falling oil prices globally and extend the relief to the end consumers with the same ratio.
While condemning the government’s contemplation of raising electricity and gas tariffs said that the present rulers which claims to be the business and investment friendly is acting upon the whims of IMF and World Bank and constantly pleasing their masters. He said that government is all out to implement anti-business decisions dictated by the IMF which are meant to ruin the investment environment in the country.
“Despite tall claims by the government there was no foreign or even local investment is coming up at this juncture when the country desperately needs foreign exchange”, Hamid said adding that economic
scenario in the country is bleak and no new industry has been set up during 18 months of present government.
He said that while the entire country is crying for gas and power, the government has done nothing in its 18 month long rule on the country to resolve energy crisis while on the other hand it frequently increasing the tariffs of electricity and gas. He said that its government’s obligation to decrease the prices of oil, gas and electricity.
