Islamabad, March 06, 2014 (PPI-OT): Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Speaker National Assembly has said that the Parliamentary Friendship Groups (PFG) in the National Assembly were playing their pivotal role to enhance trade and economic activities in the country through strengthening ties with other Parliaments of the World.
He expressed these views in a meeting with a six member delegation of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry headed by Mian Tariq Misbah, Acting President LCCI at Parliament House, today. Miss Shaza Fatima Khawaja MNA, Ms. Yasmeen Rehman Former MNA and Mian Misbah-ur Rehman Former President LCCI were also present on the occasion.
The Speaker said that the awarding of GSP-Plus status by the European Union was good omen for Pakistan’s economy and it will boost the economic activities in the country besides creating more jobs opportunities. “I am proud to share with you that GSP-Plus status to Pakistan by the European Union is the landmark achievement of the diplomatic interactions, parliamentary diplomacy and government’s effort” he added.
Sardar Ayaz Sadiq told the delegation that the government was introducing investment friendly policies. This is fact that we are facing law and order situation and acute power shortage, however, I assured you we will overcome these hurdles collectively and courageously, he said.
Earlier the delegation informed the Speaker that due to law and order situation, power shortage and gas load shedding reduced the capacity of production of industries. The Speaker said that the Parliament and the government would extend every possible help to the business community and traders for smooth and effective running of their business and trade activities.
