He called upon the Kashmiris to boycott the forthcoming so-called polls in the territory and strengthen the pro-freedom camp to take the ongoing liberation movement to its logical conclusion.
Hurriyet leaders including Shabbir Ahmed Dar and Wajahat Qureshi also addressed the gathering. Amid high-pitched anti-India and pro-liberation slogans, the leaders also led a big procession in the area.
The APHC at a meeting in Srinagar, today, took strong exception to the recent statement of Indian Defence Minister, A K Antony, wherein he had refused to reopen the case against the army personnel involved in the killing of six innocent Kashmiris in Pathribal fake encounter incident of March 2000.
The meeting said that Antony’s assertion had exposed India’s claims of democracy and justice. The meeting was chaired by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and attended by Professor Abdul Ghani Butt, Maulana Abbas Ansari, Bilal Ghani Lone, Muhammad Musaddiq Aadil and Mukhtar Ahmed Waza.
Hurriyet leader, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, also visited Zaloora and sympathized with the family of the martyred youth. The veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, in a statement issued in Srinagar condemned arrest of the leaders of his party Tehreek-e-Hurriyet Jammu and Kashmir by Indian police. He said that the puppet administration was subjecting Tehreek-e-Hurriyet to political vendetta and was not providing any political space to it.
The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front at a meeting in Srinagar expressed serious concern over the gross human rights abuses by Indian forces in the territory. The meeting was chaired by JKLF Zonal President, Noor Muhammad Kalwal.
