PM calls emergency meeting of all provincial Govts to review flood situation

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has called an emergency meeting of all provincial governments to review the flood situation in the country.

It was decided during a meeting presided over by the Prime Minister in Islamabad.

All provincial Chief Ministers including Chief Minister of Gilgit Baltistan and Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir will attend the meeting.

The Prime Minister has also constituted committees to speed up relief operations in flood-affected areas.

The committees headed by federal ministers and coalition parties leaders will supervise the distribution of relief items including ration, tents, drinking water and medicines among affected people.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister directed ministry of finance to mobilize all available resources for rescue and relief of flood-affected people.

He also directed National Highways Authority to deploy machinery in all flood-affected areas and restore communications.

Shehbaz Sharif directed to provide two hundred thousand tents in all affected areas and said relief operation should be carried out with the assistance of Pakistan Army in an organized manner.
