Karachi, May 23, 2012 (PPI-OT): A representative delegation of Association of Defence Residents (ADR) led by its President Mr. Attique-ur-Rehman visited DHA’s Main Office and held a meeting with Administrator DHA Brig Aamer Raza Qureshi in which DHA’s projects and residents’ problems were discussed.
Brig Aamer underlined the need of frequent interactions between DHA and residents for speedy resolution of their problems. He reiterated that DHA was committed to provide best housing and residential facilities to its residents.
The Administrator said that significant headway had been made towards revival and rehabilitation of the non-functional Cogen plant. He said that it was likely that a new management would soon take over the administrative/operational control of the project and would ensure speedy repairs/rehabilitation works.
He added that under the new arrangements DHA would have adequate representation in the Management Board of the plant in future. Currently, the new management company was in the process of negotiating tariff arrangements with KESC, SSGC and CBC.
While recalling the concern of the residents regarding the need of a graveyard, the Administrator said that DHA was working on the requirement and was planning to construct a new graveyard in Defence Phase-VIII in the earliest timeframe.
Talking about the status of the stalled DHA water front projects, Administrator said that DHA through a reinovogarated strategy had been negotiating with the developers for early revival of a number of projects including Emaar and Creek Marina under revised/pragmatic terms and conditions. The discussions with the developers did focus on looking after the interest of allottees and on safeguarding their interest in future as well.
The delegation was informed that DHA had asked the restaurants located on Seaview Beach not to dispose off garbage, untreated waste or oily effluent in the open sea which caused marine pollution. DHA Vigilance would monitor the situation and ensure implementation of the policy in true letter and spirit.
In the end ADR Delegation thanked the Administrator for giving spontaneous, considerate and judicious decisions on various issues of residents’ concern.
