Islamabad, May 15, 2012 (PPI-OT): The 33rd Executive Committee Meeting of Pakistan Squash Federation was convened at Mushaf Squash Complex Islamabad on 14th May, 2012. Senior Vice President, PSF Air Vice Marshal Syed Razi Nawab presided over the meeting. Vice Presidents PSF and Reps from Punjab, Sindh, KPK and Balochistan Associations were also present during the meeting.
The meeting was called to discuss the issues of ban on two Squash players (Aamir Atlas and Yasir) for their poor performance during World Mens’ Team Championship, 2011 at Germany and the boycott of players during national junior tournament recently held at Peshawar.
Ban on Squash Players: Prior to the meeting, Mr Aamir Atlas and Yasir Butt forwarded emails to the PSF apologizing for their under performance during the World Mens’ Team Championship, 2011. They also personally appeared before the executive committee.
The matter was deliberated in detail by the executive body. Both the players accepted their mistakes and promised not to repeat such attitude in the future. After detailed deliberations and assurance by the players, their apologies were accepted by the executive body and the ban on the players was unanimously lifted.
Boycott of players from national tournament: The executive committee took a serious note of the recent incident where a group of players had withdrawn from the national tournament in Peshawar at the last moment, thus creating embarrassment for the event organizers.
After detailed deliberations, Reps from Punjab and Sindh Squash Associations gave an assurance that such incident would not re-occur in the future. On their complete assurance, the matter was amicably resolved in the best interest of the game of Squash in Pakistan.
