Peshawar, May 25, 2012 (PPI-OT): The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Environment, Wajid Ali Khan while appreciating the efforts of “Organization for Social and Economic Development” (OSED) for supporting orphans has said that it was our religious and national responsibility and the Government would extend all kind of possible support to the organization working for this noble cause.
He was addressing a function organized by OSED on Wednesday at Press Club Peshawar. Uzair Khan Director Programs OSED, Principal Hira Public School Fazalullah, Ms. Navida Naz from Child Protection Unit and a large number of students were present on this occasion.
The Minister appealed the communities, donor agencies and social workers to extend all possible support in this regard. Uzair Khan briefly explained the Orphan Support Program, its objectives, methodology and coordination with other partners in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Mr Uzair informed the audience about the importance of orphans sponsorship. “A sponsored orphan is able to get his education, live in good health and get the attention of society members which make him confident and pleased with the society and family members”, he said.
He added that educated orphan will play a vital role in the developmental process of the country and will not rely on the other means. Educated orphan will never go for any wrong deed and will acts like a healthy member of the society. He said that data of each orphans is available on website and is in easy approach to the prospecting sponsor.
Mr Fazalullah, Miss Naveeda Naz, Mr Khyal Zaman Orakzai Chairman Da Khyber Guloona and other social workers addressed the launching ceremony.
Later on, school kits were distributed among 50 orphans students.
