Karachi, May 23, 2012 (PPI-OT): Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority today has removed two of its Field Inspectors from service on account of corruption and bribery. The Authority learnt that Mr. Muhammad Shahid and Mr. Javed Akhtar working as Field Inspectors (PS-4) at PEMRA Regional Office Islamabad were allegedly involved in cases of graft and bribery and during the inquiry the allegations were established.
PEMRA spokesman said that since, it was prima-facie established that the accused were guilty of gross misconduct of corruption as explicitly defined under clause 160 (c) (i), (ii), (iii) and (iv) of the PEMRA Employees Service Regulations 2011, therefore, the offense warranted imposition of not less than Major penalty as ordained under clause 161 (b) (iii) i.e. removal from service.
As per recommendations of the inquiry committee, PEMRA Chairman in exercise of powers vested under clause 158 of the said regulations, ordered immediate removal of both Field Inspectors from service to uphold the integrity and repute of the organization.
