Islamabad, May 28, 2012 (PPI-OT): WIPO Regional Forum on Intellectual Property (IP) and Environmentally Sound Technologies (ESTs) at Sri Lanka form May 29-31, 2012 will commence today (Tuesday). The delegates from different countries had reached at Colombo who were received by the Officials of National Intellectual Property Office Sri Lanka (NIPOS).
The three member Pakistan delegation led by Mr. Hameed Ullah Jan Afridi, the Chairman Intellectual Property IPO-Pakistan, talking on the occasion said that rapid growth of population and emissions of Green House Gases had created numerous problems for the living organisms on this planet and we have to find out viable solution of these challenges by adopting appropriate measures.
He said that WIPO Regional Forum and Roundtable Negotiations about the core issues relating to Intellectual Property and Environmentally Sound Technologies would enable participants to share their experiences and success stories of their respective countries.
Hameed Ullah Jan Afridi said that it is need of hour that developing countries should join hands and promote cost effective technologies besides encouraging and giving protection to innovations especially relating to Environment friendly alternative sources of energy. He said the Forum of SAARC countries would prove helpful to achieve the fixed targets in this regard.
