Islamabad: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has stressed upon speeding up the exploration of oil and gas in the country to bridge the gap between demand and supply as soon as possible. He said that energy shortage has adversely affected the growth of our economy.
The Prime Minister was talking to Federal Minister for Law, Mr. Maula Buksh Chandio and Advisor to PM on Petroleum Dr. Asim Hussain at PM’s House here today.
The Prime Minister directed the Advisor on Petroleum to expedite work on exploration of Tight and Shale Gas Reservoirs. He enquired about the progress on Tajikistan Afghanistan-Pakistan and India (TAPI) Gas Pipeline Project.
The Advisor appraised the Prime Minister about the details of his recent meeting with Indian Counterpart on TAPI Gas Pipeline Project. He also discussed CASA-1000 Project in the meeting.
Dr. Asim Hussain briefed the Prime Minister about Kuwaiti Government’s willingness to supply two million tons of oil as well as LPG quotas for Pakistan on deferred payment basis. He further informed the Prime Minister that his Ministry is making concerted efforts to harness natural gas from the Tight and Shale Gas Reservoirs of Pakistan in pursuance of the recently announced Shale Gas Policy by the Government of Pakistan.
