Islamabad, March 29, 2016 (PPI-OT):The Deputy Speaker National Assembly Murtaza Javed Abbasi has said that 23rd March is the Day to renew our commitment to develop the country in accordance with the principles of justice and equity, the real objective of the creation of Pakistan. He expressed these views while addressing a widely attended Event by Pakistanis residing in USA in connection with 23rd March celebrations in Dallas Texas, USA which was organized by the Pakistani Society of North Texas (PSNT) according to a message received from Texas, USA.
The Deputy Speaker Addressing the gathering congratulated Pakistani community residing in United States of America on this auspicious occasion. He stated that the creation of Pakistan within seven years after the passage of the 1940 Lahore Resolution reflected the wisdom and tenacity of our founding fathers. He said that under the impeccable and sagacious leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, the Muslims of the sub-continent realized their dream. “It is now our utmost responsibility to make Pakistan a true welfare state as envisioned by the Quaid-e-Azam”, he added.
The Deputy Speaker highlighted the efforts that the Pakistani people have made toward consolidating democracy, stimulating economic growth, and defeating the forces of extremism. He also presented a positive review of Pakistan-U.S. relations, citing a strong strategic partnership defined by strong economic and energy cooperation, defense and security relations and people-to-people contacts. The Deputy Speaker appreciated the services of PSNT for the Pakistani Community residing in USA.
He also paid tribute to the Father of the Nation and other leaders of the Freedom Movement who facilitated the creation of Pakistan by uniting the nation through their earnestness, wisdom and unparalleled sacrifices. “Let me remind you on this important occasion that Pakistan came into being through a long democratic struggle and now the key to its stability and development also lies in democracy. Therefore, it is essential to promote the spirit of tolerance and patience which are the fundamentals of democracy so that the existing challenges of extremism and terrorism can be overcome by the nation, the Deputy Speaker added”.
He further added that ‘It is unfortunate reality that terrorism has affected all segments of the Pakistani society. The terrorists have not spared educational institutions, public places and even places of worship, which demonstrate their negative and destructive mindset, however it is matter of happiness and satisfaction that the Pakistani nation is united against this menace and fully determined to eradicate all forms of terrorism. “We can win this battle by putting an end to our differences, promoting brotherhood and tolerance” he said. He said that it is imperative to promote education in the country and transfer the fruits of development to every Pakistani in order to achieve this objective.
He prayed to Almighty Allah to bless the people of Pakistan with the spirit to sincerely serve the homeland to take Pakistan to the heights of glory by following the footprints of our great forefathers. The event was also addressed by the President of the PSNT Nadeem Zaman, Dr. Hashmi Hassan Hashmi, Member Executive Committee of the PSNT. The Counsellor General of Pakistan in Huston was also present on this occasion.
