Srinagar, March 08, 2016 (PPI-OT):In occupied Kashmir, hundreds of people, today, took out a march towards the Line of Control in Kupwara district against the Food Security Act imposed by India in the territory. Under the Act the supply of food items especially rice to the occupied territory has been reduced considerably.
The residents of Keran had recently threatened to cross the Line of Control to get food grains, as implementation of the Food Act would deprive them of adequate supply of food items. Nearly 1,000 people took out the procession in Keran this afternoon, chanting slogans demanding immediate withdrawal of the Act, a police officer said.
He said that the marchers were stopped near the LoC. Last month, the residents of Tangdhar took out a similar march but were forced to stop by the Indian Army. People in other parts of the Valley had also staged demonstrations, demanding revocation of the Act.
