Lahore, September 01, 2015 (PPI-OT):On the directives of the Chief Minister Punjab, Mian Shahbaz Sharif, Punjab Board of Investment and Trade in consultation with the Iranian Consulate in Lahore coordinated a 3 day visit of high profile delegation to Iran led by Mr. Bilal Yasin, Minister for food.
Purpose of the delegation’s visit is to plan for the upcoming Chief Minister’s visit to Iran Mr. Bilal Yasin, Minister for Food, Mr. Farukh Javed, Minister for Agriculture, Mr. Muhammad Anjum, Director General Agriculture extension, Mr. Abdul Basit, Chairman PBIT, Mr. Nasim Sadiq, Secretary Livestock and Industries were part of the delegation.
The delegation had meetings with General Trading Corporation of Iran, Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock department, Minister for Industries Iran, Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance, and sideline meetings with the relevant business entities and some site visits.
Outcome of the meeting with the Minister of agriculture was very positive. Iranian’s have agreed to lift the ban on rice imports from Pakistan and from October 2015 Pakistani rice can be exported to Iran. It was also discussed with the general trading corporation of Iran that more goods should be imported from Pakistan, to which they agreed upon.
In another meeting discussion on border cities was done and it was decided that trade route should be developed from which both the countries would benefit and the illegal trade of goods should be eliminated. During the visit Pakistani High Commissioner in Iran, Mr. Khalid Aziz Babar also hosted a dinner for the delegation.
