Lahore: Punjab University Department of Applied Psychology’s six students have participated in the 3rd Pakistan Youth Congress (PYC) held at Hotel Regent Plaza Karachi. The PYC was organized by the Drug-Free Pakistan Society from June 3-6. The students included Zainab Raza, Viqar Solomon, Tehreem Yaseen, Jaleesha Butt, Rakia Ashraf and Muneeb-ul-Haq. Two students were funded by the organizers of the conference while four students and one accompanying faculty member Ms. Shahnila Tariq, were funded by the University. PU team was the representation not only from the varsity but also from whole Punjab province.
The theme of 3rd PYC was “Khudi is Precious” while the objective was to focus on youth empowerment through educating them about personal branding, life skills, and career development. The PU students prepared a social project/community based programmes to be implemented in areas. Muneeb-ul-Haq presented on “elimination of fashion smoking from our youth,” Zainab Raza participated in speech contest, Rakia Ashraf participated in “otaque,” Jaleesha Butt in “T-Shirt” presentation, Viqar Solomon in general discussions, Tehreem Yaseen and Rakia Ashraf also participated in an act for the awareness of drugs for the youth. On the basis of active participation of PU students, the organizers decided to held the 4th Pakistan Youth Congress in Lahore and appoint the students as the youth mobilizes in the forthcoming congress.
