Islamabad: Islamabad Police have decided to enhance security measures in city and constituted Quick Response Force (QRF) units and police commando teams for their deployment at sensitive places to thwart any untoward incident.
The decision to this effect has been made by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Bani Amin Khan after reviewing the security measures adopted in the city.
IGP Bani Amin Khan also ordered police squads escorting the IGP, DIGs and SSPs to patrol the city after dropping the officers to their respective offices or homes, while stating that he is trying to improve the present policing system. Three rings of security have been set up with provision of more logistic support for policemen performing duties in shape of various teams, the IGP said adding that necessary security gadgets have been provided to the policemen performing duties at pickets for high vigilance.
He said that six QRF teams have been constituted, seven vehicles of police commandos and 45 other vehicles have been assigned the task to perform duties in the sensitive and residential areas to ensure elaborate security in the city.
The IGP said that infrastructure at police help line, Rescue 15 has been also strengthened and 38 vehicles have been provided for quick response in case on any emergency. Response time after call to Rescue 15 police is four minutes and further facilities will be provided for ensuring in time assistance to people through it, Bani Amin Khan added.
Squad of falcon vehicles from Rescue 15, he said, had been also directed for strict patrolling and keep in touch with the heads of police stations for ensuring security
He said that city has been divided into 44 beats each beat consisting of one sector- and beat officers as well as policemen working in these beats have been assigned the task to ensure effective patrolling and vigilance.
e said that targets have been set for each division of Islamabad police and their performance would be reviewed from time to time regarding achievements of the goals.
IGP Islamabad Bani Amin said that effective coordination among all wings of Islamabad police including operational police, CID Department, Security Division and Special Branch has been also ordered.
He also appealed the citizens for their coordination with police to ensure fool proof security and get further success against criminals.
