Lahore, November 24, 2015 (PPI-OT): Provincial Minister for Law Rana Sanaullah met Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, here today. Law and order situation in the province and the measures taken for protection of life and property of the people during the third phase of local bodies’ elections were discussed in the meeting.
The Chief Minister said that Punjab government had taken effective steps for the peaceful conduct of local bodies elections in the first and second phase and foolproof security arrangements should also be made for maintaining law and order in the third phase of local bodies’ polls.
He said that comprehensive measures taken under National Action Plan for the elimination of terrorism and sectarianism are yielding positive results. He said that Punjab government has made necessary amendments in the laws and made punishments more stringent.
The Chief Minister said that people have expressed full confidence in the leadership of Pakistan Muslim League-N in local bodies’ elections and authenticated the results of general elections of 2013. He said that the masses have also rejected in local bodies’ elections those elements as were making allegations of so-called rigging in general elections. He said that the politics of honesty, hard work and transparency has won in local bodies’ elections. He said that government would come up to the expectations of the masses.
