Islamabad: Minister of State for Interfaith Harmony and Minority Affairs, Akram Masih Gill has said religious institutions can play vital role to promote interfaith harmony aimed at bringing peace and tolerance in the society.
He expressed these views while talking to a 3-member delegation of France which called on him here on Wednesday, led by Mr. Bertrand Lortholary Advisor to president for Asia. Mr. Daniel Jouanneau, Ambassador of France and Mr. Gills Bourbao, Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of France, were also present in the meeting.
The Minister said government is trying its level best and taking all possible measures to reduce the gap of understanding between all institutions by promoting interfaith harmony in the country.
He said interfaith committees have been set up across the country comprising of members from all religions in order to promote religious understanding and interfaith harmony.
The Minister informed the delegation the Interfaith Harmony Ministry would arrange Ulema Conferences, Seminars and Walks to bridge the gap among the followers of different religions and added the Ministry is well aware of the problems faced by the minorities.
The delegation head Mr. Bertrad Lortholary called for increasing volume of trade between both the countries and urged the minorities to come forward to the business sector.
