Islamabad, March 10, 2014 (PPI-OT): Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Speaker National Assembly has embarked to attend 130th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) being held from 16 – 20 March 2014 at Geneva, Switzerland, today.
The Speaker, National Assembly will lead the Parliamentary Delegation comprising MNAs; Mrs. Arifa Khalid Pervaiz, Syed Naveed Qamar, Mr. Shafqat Mehmood, Maj ® Tahir Iqbal, Mr. Khalid Maqbool, Mr. Raza Hayat Harraj, Senators; Mian Raza Rabbani, Mr. Farooq H. Naek, Mr. Baz Muhammad Khan, Mr. Karamat Hussain Niazi, Secretary, National Assembly and Mr. Amjad Pervaiz, Secretary Senate.
The members of the delegation will participate in the Assembly of the IPU and its related meetings. They will also meet their counterparts on sidelines of the Assembly from 159 countries and exchange views and experiences.
The IPU Assembly would converse upon the contributions of parliaments for making a nuclear-weapon-free world, efforts towards risk resilient development taking into consideration demographic trends and natural constraints besides the role of parliaments in protecting the rights of children, in particular unaccompanied migrant children, and in preventing their exploitation in situations of war and conflict.
