Abu Dhabi, November 08, 2012 (PPI-OT): Books are the means to keep the youth close to their culture, religion and values. It is an extremely positive development that 26 publishers from Pakistan have participated in the International Books Exhibition at Sharjah. This is the first time that His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al-Qasimi, the Ruler of Sharjah has announced a subsidy of US$ 1500 equivalent to AED 5400 for translation of books from Urdu and English to Arabic.
This was said by Ambassador of Pakistan to the United Arab Emirates, Jamil Ahmed Khan during the inaugural ceremony of 31st International Books Exhibition in the UAE His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al-Qasimi exclusively inaugurated the Pakistan Pavilion of the exhibition in the presence of a large crowd.
This time, the special focus was made on the books from Pakistan which indeed is a benchmark in such exhibitions in the United Arab Emirates. Ambassador Jamil Khan further said that frustration and odds of society can be prevented if society is able to keep them self close to authors, books and literature but that can only be possible if the governments, civil society and philosophers play their role.
Ambassador continued saying that societies who accord priority to education are saved from the menace like extremism and terrorism. At the end, Khan presented books including specially written Holy Quran to the Ruler of Sharjah.
