Islamabad: Federal Minister for States and Frontier Regions, Engineer Shaukatullah advised the tribal elders to be united for bringing peace and development to their area. He expressed these feelings in a meeting with Mohmand tribal elders here in Islamabad on Thursday.
A group comprising of about twenty five Malaks (elders) belonging to different sub-tribes of the Mohmand, that is the main stream and one of the largest tribe residing in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas. The members of the Jirga had come mainly from Mohmand agency to share their issues with the Federal Minister for States and Frontier Regions. They also extended some demands to the Federal Minister like supply of electricity to some parts of their respective areas, provision of sport facilities, renaming of Munda dam as Mohmand dam etc.
Engineer Shaukatullah thanked the elders for visiting his office and assured them of every possible support for the resolution of their problems. He also advised them to curb their mutual animosities so that extremists do not exploit the situation. “You must show unity and harmony in your ranks and files and be united for the common enemy that is extremism in the tribal areas”, he emphasized.
