London, November 03, 2012 (PPI-OT): Sindh Governor, Dr. Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan attended the Trade and Investment Roundtable hosted by the Pakistan British Trade and Investment Forum (PBTIF) at Asia House, London.
Addressing the conference, Dr. Ebad urged the British investors as well as Pakistani nationals in Britain to invest in Pakistan.
The Sindh Governor also suggested for a joint ventures between the investors of both the countries in this regard. He briefed the participants of the moot pertaining to investment opportunities in Pakistan.
The Roundtable was attended by Pakistan’s High Commissioner to United Kingdom, Wajid Shams-ul-Hassan, Head of the PBTIF, Ms. Nauheena Mubarak and investors and businessmen.
Meanwhile, the governor Sindh on Thursday visited the offices of Stemcor Holdings Ltd and met with Alexander S Catsiapis, Director Export Finance, and Adam Wilkinson, Manager. The company presented a brief profile of its operations and expressed interest in investing in the Pakistan Steel Mills.
The proposal of the company involves offering approximately $85 million worth of credit line for import of raw materials, particularly iron ore, for the Pakistan Steel Mills to be able to increase its depleting capacity.
The governor said that the efficient running of the Pakistan Steel Mills would be extremely beneficial for Pakistan and especially Karachi given the fact that 17,000 employees worked in the Pakistan Steel Mills.
The governor invited Stemcor to visit Pakistan and also said that the Sindh government was interested in the rehabilitation and efficient working of the plant.
