Islamabad: In a section of today’s newspapers, an item has appeared alleging that hundreds of employees have become jobless due to devolution of Ministries to the Provinces, large number of offices could not be absorbed and placed as OSD on surplus pool. It has also been alleged that future of employees of other Ministries to be devolved in June, 2011 is in danger.
The spokesperson of the Establishment Division has said that the allegations are baseless and unfounded and strongly denied. It is clarified that none of the civil servants of the ten Ministries devolved so far have become jobless. The spokesperson further said that not a single civil servant has been placed on surplus pool.
The correct position is that the employees of the ten devolved Ministries located in the Provinces have been transferred to their respective Provinces and those located in Islamabad have been adjusted in other Ministries/Divisions (not being devolved) in one form or the other. These include transfers alongwith work/post/budget, transfer against existing vacancies on deputation under section 10 of the Civil Servants Act, 1973. It is further clarified that decision for adjustment of employees of the Ministries to be devolved in June, 2011 is yet to be taken. Efforts are, however, in hand none of them become jobless, the spokesperson concluded.
