Srinagar, June 23, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, authorities placed Srinagar’s commercial hub Lal Chowk and adjoining areas under siege. The authorities imposed restrictions on public assembly in several areas falling under civil lines in Srinagar in order to prevent pro-freedom march and JKLF’s ‘Quit Kashmir’ call.
Official sources said areas falling under jurisdiction of Police Stations Maisuma, Kralkhud and Kothi Bagh are under siege with police and concertina wires sealing all entry and exit points of central market in Lal Chowk to stop protest marches. The marketplaces wore a deserted look while schools and colleges in the area are also closed in Kashmir valley.
Indian police continued their search operations to nab the senior leadership of JKLF including its chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik, who according to JKLF has gone into hiding in order to lead the protest march, today.
