Karachi, November 20, 2014 (PPI-OT): Ten companies, under the auspices of Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), representing an array of trade sectors are participating in the 16th edition of Apparel, Textile and Footwear (ATF) Trade Exhibition which is being held in the beautiful port city of Cape Town, South Africa from 19-21 November, 2014. These companies include Sadaqat Textiles, Cotton Web, Essak home textiles, Al-Azmat textiles, K-one Sports, Gahee Enterpizes, Rajput leather, Khalid leather, Polani Textiles, Pristina leather and textiles wear.

ATF is South Africa’s only specialized sourcing show for the clothing, textile and footwear industries. The main objective of the event is to offer manufacturers, suppliers and service providers in these industries a truly effective opportunity to reinforce business with South African buyers, establish new contacts in Africa and to explore various other global trade opportunities. Cape Town is the ‘Retail Head Quarter’ of these industries.ATF attracts companies from different countries across the world including competitors of Pakistan like Bangladesh, China and India.

Pakistan’s export to South Africa has been increasing to more than 8% on yearly basis for last two years. The major increase has been witnessed in textiles, leather, cement and sports sectors. Some more sectors like engineering goods, tractors, motorcycles, fruits and other food items have great un-tapped potential, as well. TDAP has also been making concerted efforts to make inroads in South Africa in line with its Africa Policy of the present government.

In this regard, TDAP has not only increased participation in exhibitions in South Africa alone, but in all the SADC countries (mainly Sub-Saharan Africa). TDAP is also considering single country exhibition at Durban in near future, which is hub of Indian origin Diaspora in Africa.

Trade Commission of Pakistan, Johannesburg has made all the arrangements for holding this exhibition including reservation of space, construction of stall, reception of the exhibitors, their B2B meetings, marketing of the show amongst the local business community etc. It is expected that contacts established during the show will materialize into concrete businesses in future. Around 20,000 visitors not only from South Africa, but from all the Sub-Saharan African countries are expected to visit these exhibitions.

A business seminar is also being organized in Cape Town on the sidelines of ATF on 21st November, 2014 by High Commission of Pakistan. A large number of South African companies and Pakistan Diaspora has been invited for the seminar. During the seminar, business potential of Pakistan and investment prospects will be highlighted.
