Karachi, June 20, 2014 (PPI-OT): Karachi Chamber issued a Press Release saying the three Town Associations namely North Karachi Association of Trade and Industry, Federal B Area Association of Trade and Industry and SITE Super Highway Association with their Chairmen Mehmood Rangoonwala, Tehseen and Nasir representing Javed Ghouri jointly led by Mehtabuddin Chawla visited Karachi Chamber to discuss worse law and order in their areas and extra-ordinary wave of kidnapping of Industrialists.
They informed the details and level of crimes as well the steps they have taken with the government to resolve these issues but the law and order continues to get worse and they wanted Karachi Chamber’s support to take up these matters at the Karachi level.
The delegation informed that businessmen and industrialists were fearlessly being kidnapped and the worsening situation can be gauged from the fact that around 17 businessmen have been kidnapped during the past three-and-a-half month whereas the police and rangers have failed to provide safety and security.
After thread bare discussion with the delegation Siraj Kassam Teli, Chairman Businessmen Group and Former President Karachi Chamber assured them that Karachi Chamber will utilize all its resources to combat worsening law and order situation of Karachi in general and in their areas in particular and specially the menace of kidnapping for ransom.
The meeting was also attended by Aamir Abdullah Zaki, President KCCI, Muffasar Malik, Senior Vice President, Mohammed Idrees, Vice President, Younus M. Bashir, Chairman SITE Association and the Managing Committee Members of KCCI.
In the Meeting it was decided to extend support on behalf of the Business and Industrial Community to the Pakistan Army’s Operation in Waziristan and opined that although Pakistan Army was deployed in Islamabad just before the beginning of the operation to deal with the repercussions which we feel was the right step but at the same time we feel that since Karachi is more vulnerable therefore the Army should be deployed immediately in Karachi as well.
We the Business and Industrial Community of Karachi are supporters of democracy in the country and do not want Army to take over but at the same time we demand from the Government, immediate action against criminals irrespective of cast, colour and creed or any political affiliations whatsoever and to do that the government must use all resources at its disposal, Police, Rangers, Frontier Core or even Army as it is the duty of the state to provide security and safety to the life and property of its citizens and today’s situation demands that the Army should be deployed in Karachi.
It was also agreed in the Meeting that it is about time that Karachi Chamber along with all seven of its affiliated Town Associations take joint and effective steps to fight this worse law and order situation ever and to do that it was decided that all the Seven Town Association’s Chairmen will bring a small delegation concerning Law and Order and meet in Karachi Chamber on Monday the 23rd June 2014 at 4:30p.m. to discuss and devise a clear line of action on how to affectively deal with the rising lawlessness and prepare a joint action plan.
