Karachi: A two-day ‘Indonesian Exhibition organised by the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia at Institute of Business Administration, Sukkur, Sindh.
Indonesian Consul General in Karachi, Rossalis R. Adenan, Deputy Commissioner District Sukkur, Sumair Ahmed, President Sukkur Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Muhammad Din and Director, Sukkur IBA jointly inaugurated the exhibition by the traditional Indonesian style.
A large number of stalls comprising Indonesian products, including garments, spices, handicrafts, besides Indonesian food products were set up at the exhibition, so as to promote Indonesian exports in general and tourism sector in particular. Describing tourism and trade facilities, opportunities, beautiful spots, along with the brief history and economic situations of the country, was also a part of the exhibition.
One among other most interesting aspects particularly for children and families, visiting the exhibition, was cultural performances by Indonesian dancers group Gastarana from Bukittinggi, West Sumatra. At the inaugural ceremony traditional dances were presented.
The ‘Puspauurti,’ a traditional dance tagged to ‘Bali’ area of the country and is usually presented before guests by the children to welcome them.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Deputy Commissioner District Sukkur, Sumair Ahmed the guest of honour, appreciated the efforts, being made by the Indonesian Consulate in regard with enhancing mutual economic and cultural ties. He said that the beautiful event would help to boost relations between Pakistan and Indonesia.
Talking about the mutual relations between the two countries he said that both countries have very strong and prolonged brotherly relations and both countries helped each other during very crucial times. He also appreciated the diversity, but unified culture of the Indonesia.
The Indonesian Consul General said on the occasion that the purpose behind holding the exhibition was to enhance relations between Pakistan and Indonesia. He said that through such type of initiatives, Indonesia seeks to enhance cooperation with Pakistan in tourism sector, besides surfacing the real image of Pakistan before international community.
Indonesian Consulate at Karachi has been hosting the event since 2009. Besides this exhibition, continuity of cultural and business promoting programmes, being organised by the consulate reveal the commitment and efficiency of the consulate in regard with promotion of Indonesian business and culture, besides enhancing bilateral ties. Indonesia also seemed active to play a solid and active role in the reign through the platform of SAARC.
Speaking about upcoming expo, Consul General informed that Indonesian commodities would be exposed on 17th and 18th March in Hyderabad during which Indonesian cultural troupe would perform.
