UN assures to work closely on reconstruction plan in flood-hit areas

The United Nations has assured to work closely with Pakistan for implementation of the comprehensive rehabilitation and reconstruction plan in the flood affected areas.

The assurance was given by the UN Deputy Secretary General Amina J. Mohammed during a meeting with Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in New York.

The Deputy Secretary General appreciated Pakistan’s role as Chair of G77 and China and its championing of the cause of developing countries.

During the meeting, the Foreign Minister sought international support for Pakistan’s long-term post-flood rehabilitation and reconstruction plan and also an effective follow-up on pledges and commitments.

He welcomed the establishment of ‘Loss and Damage Fund’ and called for its early operationalization.
