New York United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres strongly condemned Friday's attacks in Mogadishu, Somalia, which claimed the lives of many civilians and injured numerous others.
In a statement on Saturday, Guterres conveyed his profound condolences to the families of the victims as well as to the people and government of Somalia. He also commended the response of the Somali security forces and African Union Mission to Somalia (AMISOM).
The secretary general further reiterated the full support of the UN to the Somali authorities in their fight against terrorism and their pursuit of a peaceful and stable Somalia.
