Srinagar, March 02, 2016 (PPI-OT):In occupied Kashmir, Hurriyet leader and the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement, Zafar Akbar Butt, has demanded immediate release of all Kashmiri political prisoners. Zafar Akbar Butt addressing a party meeting in downtown Srinagar, today, said, “It is ironic that those innocent detainees who have completed their terms are still languishing in jails. The country which is beating drums of having a vibrant judiciary is not releasing these prisoners on court directions too.”
He said that the condition of most of the prisoners had worsened due to non-availability of basic medical facilities in jails. Zafar Akbar Butt paid glowing tributes to the Kashmiri martyrs who laid down their lives for peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute and reaffirmed the Kashmiris’ resolve to take the ongoing freedom movement to its logical conclusion.
He also condemned the Indian authorities for registering false cases against the Kashmiri students. He asked India to end the culture of registering cases against those Kashmiris who were peacefully expressing their dissent and also end the harassment and arrest of Kashmiri youth. The JKSM Chairman also demanded revocation of the draconian laws like Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) and Public Safety Act (PSA), from the occupied territory.
