Secretary General of Pakistan Muslim League-N, Ahsan Iqbal has said that government under the leadership of Shehbaz Sharif will adopt austerity measures for extending relief to poor people.

Talking to a private television channel, he assured that the government will not take any step that could disturb the common man’s daily life.

He said we are facing challenges in every institution including economic sector. He said the PML-N government will take all necessary steps to bring improvement in every sector.

Voting for election of the new Punjab Chief Minister will be held in the Punjab Assembly in Lahore today at 11.30 in the morning.

Deputy Speaker Sardar Dost Muhammad Mazari will chair the Assembly session to conduct the electoral process.

Hamza Shahbaz is a candidate of PML (N) and allied parties while Chaudhry Parvez Elahi is candidate of PTI and PML (Q).

Meanwhile, all necessary administrative and security arrangements have been finalized to hold a smooth electoral process for the new Punjab Chief Minister.

To avoid any untoward incident, Section 144 has been imposed in area up to 500 meters around Punjab Assembly building, under which workers of no political party will be allowed to gather within this range.

Strict action will be taken on blocking The Mall or any other road around Punjab Assembly building.

Pakistan Navy has taken over Command of Multinational Combined Task Force 151 (CTF-151) from Royal Jordanian Navy at the Change of Command ceremony held in Bahrain.

Pakistan Navy’s Commander of Combined Task Force Commodore Ahmed Hussain took over the Command from Colonel Mohammad Ismail Al-Tarawneh of Royal Jordanian Navy.

Speaking on the occasion, Commodore Ahmed Hussain assured that his team is fully prepared to shoulder this challenging responsibility.

He reaffirmed his resolve to continue operations with zeal and zest. The mission of CTF-151 is to deter, disrupt, and suppress piracy and armed robbery at sea.

The Task Force engages with regional and other partners to strengthen relevant capabilities in order to protect global maritime commerce.

The change of Command ceremony was attended by Military and civilian dignitaries, Ambassadors of Pakistan and Jordan and senior officers from other navies forming the maritime coalition.

Senior PPP leader Sherry Rehman has criticized former Prime Minister Imran Khan for pursuing the politics of division.

Addressing a news conference along with PPP leaders Nadeem Afzal Chan and Faisal Karim Kundi, in Islamabad on Friday, she said the PPP leadership welcomes the news conference of the DG ISPR in which he made many things clear.

She said there is no mention of conspiracy in the communique of National Security Committee. She said the narrative of Imran Khan is dangerous for Pakistan.

PPP leader Nadeem Afzal Chan called for collective efforts to strengthen democracy in the country.

According to the schedule, nomination papers can be obtained from the Legislation branch of the National Assembly and be submitted by 12 noon tomorrow (Thursday) with the Secretary of the Lower House.

The election will be held during the session of the National Assembly scheduled on Saturday.

It is pertinent to mention that the office of the Speaker National Assembly became vacant after the resignation of former Speaker Asad Qaisar.

China has highly commended Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s remarks on the construction of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor saying it is ready to work with Pakistan.

During his regular briefing in Beijing, Foreign Ministry’s Spokesperson Zhao Lijian said that China has noted Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s remarks on the CPEC and we highly commend that.

He said all efforts will be made to continue pursuing high-quality development of the corridor and build it into a model and demonstration project for Belt and Road cooperation between the two countries.

Zhao Lijian said, since its launching, the CPEC had made important contributions to Pakistan’s economic development and improvement of Pakistani people’s livelihood.
