Govt took important decisions to strengthen economy: Ishaq Dar

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar says the government has taken important decisions to strengthen economy.

Addressing a press conference along with Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and other members of the federal cabinet in Islamabad, he said the government has started a crackdown to prevent smuggling of dollars and wheat from Pakistan.

The Finance Minister said official rate of dollar is around 224 rupees, but due to smuggling, there is a difference of 13 to 18 rupees in the “grey market”.

Giving an overview of the economic situation, he said the floods devastated the country and affected millions of people who were provided timely relief by the government.

Ishaq Dar said the previous PTI government destroyed the country’s economy during its tenure and Imran Khan tried to prove Pakistan as a corrupt nation.

He said a malicious campaign is being carried out by the PTI that Pakistan would go “bankrupt”, but in reality, there is absolutely no chance of it.
