The International Day of the Girl Child is being observed across the globe today.
The theme for the day this year is “Invest in Girls’ Rights: Our Leadership, Our Well-being”.
In his message on the occasion, Punjab Governor Muhammad Baligh-ur-Rahman said social taboos such as keeping girls out of education and early marriage need to be changed.
He said the purpose of celebrating this day is to highlight the problems faced by the girl child in the society and to make efforts to solve them.
